a good diet to lose weight in one week [cabbage soup diet] [mayo clinic diet]

Ok I have been on the , diet five days a flying start and now the . They are all basically cut back on starches and carbohydrates. and Ive been walking and jogging three miles five days a week since June 30 have gone from 185.6 pounds to 182.6 back to £ 181.00 I do not know what to do I want at least 165 by August 19 when I go on holiday.

Any help or suggestion on this point will good.

Reply:finally I went from 185.6SW June 30, 03 to CW180.6 this morning. That's almost 3 weeks to lose 5lbs with dieting and excercise.

Reply:How do you count calories for things that is not in a package.

Reply:Reduce your total calorie intake to a net of 800 calories after exercise deductions for walking. Drink plenty of water (half your body weight in ounces) per day. The walking should be 90 minutes at a brisk pace of 3 MPH or better.

Reply:i have never heard of the . i'm actually surprised at how many people havn't heard of the grapefruit diet – i think it was bigger about a year ago or so.

Reply:I think probably the best way to loose 10 lbs. in about a week is definitely the GRAPEFRUIT DIET. If you stick to it and don't cheat you WILL lose weight. My mom has done it, i have done it, and it always works! I've tried searching for it on the internet, but here it is basically, FYI:

Morning:
1 strip of bacon
2 eggs (any style)
8 oz of grapefruit juice or 1/2 grapefruit

Lunch:
Any meat (any amount)
Any veggie (any amount)
8 oz of grapefruit juice or 1/2 grapefruit

Dinner:
Any meat or fish (any amount)
Any veggie (any amount)
8 oz of grapefruit juice or 1/2 grapefruit

CANNOT EAT: any forms of carbs or starches – no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, no white veggies – i.e. corn, potatoes, cauliflower, celery, etc. Stick to the green stuff.

NO SUGAR – don't do it! And they recommend you drink caffiene-free sodas as well, 1 a day is best.

CAN EAT: cheese, butter, anything high in fat. Any dressing as well, and don't be afraid to fry your food. Fat is not the issue here, carbs and sugar IS!!!

They say that you loose 5 lbs. on the 5th day, and 1 lbs a day after that. The grapefruit juice acts as a catalyst to break down the fat. AFter 10 days on this diet you go off for 2 days and eat whatever you want, then go back on it again for 10 – as long as you like. This takes A LOT of discipline…at least it did for me. But it does work!

Reply:yes devilnicki I am going to try atkin but i looks like i have to buy the book most of the info i found on the web is only a sample menu so i guest i can not try it right now.

whirl yes i do live on a small island a very simple way of life i never appreciated were i lived until i spend two years in jamaica, all the crimes was just so hard to get use to, we hardly ever have crimes here my mom front door dose'nt have a lock that works, everythig here is so lay back.

I've been diving on Grand Turk! What a beautiful island…you lucky girl! Loved every minute of it..especially the golf cart we got to use from the hotel! Forgot the name of the hotel…but it was out past the hardware store.

I keep think I'm going to try Atkins for a quick start…I've stalled in my weight loss…. Whaaaaaa!!!

You do not need to buy any books. Just do a search on the net for atkins center. It will tell you all the stages of Atkins and what to eat and what not to eat. Very simple to follow and you don't need to buy anyting gimmicks or special meals so you can start at your next meal!

Reply:I would not mind trying Atkin's Diet but you have to buy books and other stuff right?? I just want a simple plan that I can follow and see results with in one week. I live in the caribbean and will have to order the book of the net which will take some time to reach me. I need something now.

Reply:Did you by chance watch some special on Dateline or one of those kind of shows where they had 5 peeps go on all sorts of diets to get ready for their 25th HS reunion (or something like that)? Surprisingly, the one who ate sensibly and trained for a marathon lost the LEAST (although she ended up being in the best shape). The one that lost the most and fastest was the Atkins Diet and then coming very close was hypnosis! Since you don't have that much time, maybe Atkins is the way to go (although my family friend went on it, lost TONS of weight fairly quickly, but gained it all once he started eating "normally").
