Attention to all users ATKINS! [quot] [atkins]

Hello all: Im starting with the program on Monday (Im in the process of reading the book first). I was wondering if anyone can suggest some meals and some snacks for the first 14 days of absolutely no carbs! (Am I right? Youre not the intention that all carbohydrates are the first 14 days? (I have not gotten that far in the book). Like most of us do, I LOVE my carbs. But I came to the realization that they make me everywhere to expand! suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:)

Reply:Hi guy,

I've been on for about 10 days now and I think its great.
One of my favourite lunches has been a tuna and cucumber salad. Or diced boiled eggs with cucumbers.

One night for dinner I made zucchini with shrimp and that was pretty good too. I sauted zuchinni, onions, red pepper and garlic, once the veggies were tender I added a bag of precooked shrimp. Like I said it was pretty good.

Anyways, I hope that helps!

GOOD LUCK!

Reply:On , I eat a lot of McDonalds. Doesn't sound too healthy right? Well, I have double-cheeseburgers without the bun and quite frankly, I think they're yummy. You just can't have a lot of ketchup with them as one tablespoon has 5 carbs.
In the book there is also a recipe for chicken cactitorre (sp?) which can be pretty low-carb if you change some things. Personally, I used dried onion and instead of chopped tomoatoes I use bruchetta, and I use beef because I like it better than chicken.
Omlets are another very low-carb meal. Same goes for chicken wings, steak, and bun-free hot dogs (I like cheese dogs). Turkey has zero carbs and I think it tastes great even without cranberry sauce or gravy, so it doesn't have to be Thanksgiving to have a big turkey. Ham and pork tenderloin too.
I also make low-carb spinach balls using pork rhinds instead of bread crumbs. My recipe has .5 carbs per ball. You just have to get a little creative. At first it's about figuring what you can eat and what you're also willing to eat.

Reply:Does anyone else have any meal/snack suggestions (e.g. breakfast, lunch & dinner) for the program?

Reply:Thank you all for your suggestions. I am looking forward to starting the program!

Reply:I too read the whole book prior to starting on . It is funny the kinds of foods that you find are high in carbs that you didn't expect and vice-versa. I look at food now and see sugar..sugar…sugar…..I began my second round with on Wednesday. Good luck!

Reply:guy, don't go without those veggies! We absolutely can have carbs, we just get them from the most natural sources: vegetables. Check on the site or in the book and you'll find a list of acceptable foods. Not all veggies are the same, though. You can have up to 3 cups of leafy vegetable or 2 cups plus one more of a cooked veggie like broccoli or cauliflower. Good luck!!

Reply: online has everything you need to make the proper choices.

GOOD LUCK!

Reply:Hey Caligirl…

welcome aboard with . While you're on for the first two weeks you can eat up to 20 grams of carbs. Eating zero carbs would be pretty much impossible.

I did this diet before but only lasted 2 weeks, now Im starting again and I'm currently on day 4. To give you an idea this is what I've eaten this week..

Monday: Steak and eggs
Tuesday: Salmon and tossed salad
Wednesday: grilled chicken breast with mushrooms and mozzarella cheese melted on it with a side salad
Thursday: Chicken ceasar salad
Tomorrow: hamburger patties and salad
Saturday: Chicken wings
Sunday: oven baked chicken and salad

there are a ton of different meal options for you. Just make sure you drink 8 glasses of water a day and make sure you don't eat too many veggies. You have a combination of 3 cups to eat a day.

Hope this helps

Melissa
