Body weight versus height [quot] [ideal body weight]
Just wondering what the recommended weight for a 33 years old 5-11 “to 6″ male. Im currently weighing 180 pounds and was wondering if the ideal body weight. Thank you.
Reply:Pay no attention to things like BMI and weight. What matters is your percentage body fat. Two people could be the same height and weight, but one may be carrying more fat and less muscle than the other.
Reply:It depends on your body size. Do you lift weights? I am 5' 9" and trying to lose a few more pounds, but I will never get to what my BMI is supposed to be. If I want to lose more than 10 more pounds, I will be losing muscle. BMI is not exact.
Reply:Thanks for the info!
Reply:Here's a raft of them for a man, 5'11, in his 30's:
People's Choice: 172
Medical Recommendation: 136-179
Metropolitan Life (medium frame): 157-170
Devine Formula: 166
Robinson formula: 161
Miller Formula: 158
Hamwi Formula: 171
Figuring all of them for a six-footer would add 3 or 4 pounds to each number.
Reply:it all depends on YOU. no one can tell you that you should be a certain weight. how can they?? we all have different bone structures and as a result will have different weights. by those BMI number's i'm 30lbs underweight but i don't look it since i have an unusually small frame but still have muscle definition. what am i supposed to do?? if you feel comfortable with yourself and are healthy otherwise, why worry about it??
Reply:178 will give u a bmi of 25 which is what u want its on the upper end of the healthy scale
