Do you think this diet is healthy and logical? [excersize] [complex carbs]
For dinner I eat a balanced diet (the food pyramid, a sufficient amount of protein, carbohydrates simple and complex carbohydrates and a sensible, small amount of fat), but I do not want the calories more than 1,500. I eat 4-6 meals a day. Really I have three meals, but all I will cut them in half and eat them at different times.
For aerobic excersize excersize I will do 4 times a week. Im out of shape now (not serious, but enough), so I will do it now for only 10 minutes per day. I will increase by 5 minutes every two weeks until I reach 30 minutes.
Ill also do some weight training and calesthinics 2 times per week.
I weigh between 155 and 160 pounds. Im looking to lose 20-25 pounds.
After I reach my goal weight I will increase my calories slightly less do aerobic excersize (2-3 times per week) and more strength and calestinics (3 times per week)
Sounds good?
Reply:Flaming,
I think with that regimen you will have no problem losing nearly a pound a week down to 140#. Be RELIGIOUS, though, about the 1500 calories and invest in a food scale to keep yourself honest.

If you eat like the food pyramid suggests you may not have much of a weight loss but more of a weight gain. Nutritionists did not come up with the Food Pyramid, but the USDA, it is very political, many different industries lobbied very hard to have their products included. Actually the food pyramid is supposed to be revamped sometime in the near future. It isn't well very balanced.Don't eat all of the carbs that are time suggested, but instead eat that many portions of veggies and you will do great. Cut out all processed and refined foods and you will see a huge weight loss. There is a Mediterranean Food Pyramid, look that one up it is much more in line with weight loss and good health! Keep up the exercise!! Good Luck!!!
Reply:Everything looks great but after you loose the weight you have to keep it off. I tried the low cal, the low fat, the shakes, you name it. But I needed something I could live with, survive on and still be happy and not feel deprived. I read the atkins book and it made allot of sense to me, tried it and I actually enjoy it cause I am never hungry. Find something that you know you could do long term and stick too. If you are doing well with what you are doing now then stick to it because you will always have to maintain. Good Luck!
Reply:Sounds good but it all depends.I was on a lowfat diet for 3 wks at 1200 calories didnt lose a pd.Im sensitive to carbs so im on the atkins woe.Your way might work for you, then again maybe not.Just try it and see.
