Everyone on South Beach diet with thyroid problems? [thyroid problems] [sbd]

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone of you are successfully on the and have your .
Thank.

Reply:guy,
My tests are as follows:My over all chol.has gone from way up in the 200's down to 190.That was last Aug.2003,and I had only been on the diet a short while. My Trig.136 ,HDL 44 ,LDL was 198 As of Aug./03
it was down to 119.
My thyroid medication had to be increased form 0.075mcg to 0.125mcg. My Tsh was 6.75 this is why the medication had to be increased. But it hasn't changed my eating habits at all. I have to have another thyroid test soon ,but not really sure when. I can't find my other tests. But I was borderline diabetic. But no longer have to worry about that.Which I'm really happy about. This is not just a diet to me it's going to be a way of life for me if I want to keep the weight off & I do! I will never beable to go back to all the bad eating habits.I'll always have to watch carbs. You said you are more hungry, than before.Maybe you need to increase carbs a little, and if still hungry try to fill in with things ,that do not have carbs. Like pork rinds,s/f jell-0 etc. You also may have built some muscle, and that would have made you gain some.Did you check your measurements? You could of still lost inches. This is not just a one shot deal diet. It's a way of life diet. I hope things improve for you ,and I wish you the best!!
Good Luck!

Reply:SJG,
Congrats on weight loss. Can I ask what your labs are right now…if you have them available.

I had lost 47 lbs and went from size 15 to a size 6 with med change and exercise and eating less. But, since adding more T4 med, my appetite has increased, still exercising, but have put on about 10 lbs in 2 months and I hate it. I want to stay in my size 6.

I'm not on the diet you want to know about, but I am on Atkin's.I'm also Hypothyroid. I've been on Atkin's diet for almost 23 weeks & so far I've lost 66 lbs. Do to weigh in at Dr's Monday. So hope I have lost more. So if you thought your Thyroid would hold you up losing weight.I don't think it will.Your best bet.I think anyway is to check with your Dr. to see what she ,or he thinks is ok for you.

Take Care & Good Luck!!
