frustrated and angry. [weight watchers] [hard time]

I tried to lose weight because I was a teenager and Im just struggling all the time. I can stick to a plan . but in two days, I just blow off and go back to eating bad food and what not. Im trying to really stick to (the last thing I havnt tried yet) and im just a afterwards and exercising and doing all things related to weight loss. Usually Im sad and always find myself eating when im bored, sad, at work, or if theres nothing better to do.

Any ways to help get some control.

Ive tried everything I could think of . keep to myself picturing me . achieve my goal, writing reminders, meetings, etc. . and nothing works.

Reply:You need to make a menu for each day of the week. Monday, I'm eating this, tuesday, I'm eating this, etc., etc,

Already at breakfast, I know what I'm having for lunch, dinner and afternoon snack. I preplan and leave no room for temptation.

Its great, I make a bunch of low-fat meals ahead of time and put them in the freezer for days when I know I will be tired or depressed or just to busy to cook.

I also make sure I walk 40 minutes a day. For me, that means going to the mall and doing several laps where the weather is cooler in summer and not raining in winter. And shopping is kind of fun :)

Reply:Like you said, your eating habits cruble when your bored. So trying starting new hobbie or take a class in something you enjoy.
Bordom is the arche nemisis of any diet, I know it sounds like cheezy advice but, if your keeping busy with thing you enjoy. Not only will this help with the bordem factor, it also in turn help with being more happy and fufilled so you will not be sad which is also another notorious diet pitfall.
This was also a big problem for me. I eat really healthy-just tooo much. I used knitting (not just for Grandma's anymore) and beading because they keep my hands busy.
Also, just not keeping anything bad to eat in the house helps, this way even if you MUST have a snack treat, your force to travel for it. That just a big pain (expecially at night) so it cuts those smaller binges down.

As one who has been in your shoes, and managed to lose 55 pounds in about a year and, has now kept it off for nearly a year may I suggest that you look into the reasons behind your failure; i.e.: emotional reasons why you are not able to stick to a reasonable and healthy way of eating?

I found that by exploring these things, that it helped take away their power over me to control what I put in my mouth. For instance, I discovered that I was a "pain" eater. In otherwords, for me in times of physical pain I tended to overeat. It made me feel comforted on some level. I had been suffering from several (minor in the grand scheme of life) ailments which caused me daily pain. Migraines were a huge trigger particularly.

Frequently, when we feel sad and depressed, we are unable to do the things for ourselves which would actually help us feel better. Whether you are eating out of pain, discomfort, boredom or depression, it would benefit you greatly to explore the emotions behind all of that. For me, it helped free me up to be able to accomplish my weight loss.

Don't give up – keep trying!

Reply:After attempting low carb diet for about 5 weeks, I figured out that I just couldn't maintain it. My cravings were out of this world, so bad that I literally felt like snatching bread away from a stranger once! :-(

I've just been trying to monitor what I've been eating by counting calories and excercising and I have to say that it's been much easier for me and it's working. I've lost 4" off my waist and 20 lbs.

You just have to find something that will work for you that you can maintain. I know exactly how you feel because I've been trying for so long but honestly excercise is the only thing that works for me.

I wish I could say something more helpful, but keep at it! I think all of us who have a long way to go to get to our weightloss goals get really frustrated about it, but we just have to stick with it.

Reply:I've been on a lowcarb diet for just about 4 months. I'm extremely overweight. I'd say the first month and a half was a cakewalk, but since then, it's like I'm craving more and more, and some days seriously considering cheating, but I haven't yet, thank god. Can canyone relate to this?
