HELP! Get up in the middle of the night . [night time] [snack]

Almost every night I get up and start snacking.I m not hungry, do not know why Im doing this.I fine during the day (except last few cause of Thanksgiving), but when night hits after Ive already sleep for a while Ill just wake up and go .Then I feel terrible because I know I have shoulnt have.I water beside my bed, but I get up and urdge .I did my mom lose in March and now with the holidays here is difficult.But Ive always kind of had this problem (only worse now) do you think a sleeping pill or something that would help me not wake up?
I wanted someone and get advice on the power 90 program (Beachbody) I think getting it.

Reply:So strange you brought this up. Many years ago I lost my dad and my husband and I moved in with my mom and her new husband because our new home was not ready to move into. It was a very stressful time in my life and it is the only time I have ever got up in the middle of the night starving for something sweet like kudos bar. Weird but also at that time I was not eating much of anything while I was awake. I would guess this may be caused by your diet plus the stress..Lisa

Reply:i used to do that too! eventually the urge just went away though, so i guess that's not very helpful advice . . . i think stress and the loss of your mom could definitely be affecting it though, so don't beat yourself up about it.

i still get the urge sometimes though and this is what i do: i always feel like i'm not really awake and thinking rationally, so i force myself to "wake up" first. i go pee, i sit on the couch and read for like 5 minutes and all of the sudden i realize, "hey, i'm tired! i'm going back to bed." it's like you've gotta get yourself out of that hypnotized/sleepy state of mind that's telling you to go . you could put a chair in front of the kitchen too. i know it sounds ultra weird, but it will probably make you giggle a little and it'll break into your conscious state of mind and probably help you just go back to sleep.

i don't think sleeping pills are the answer though. you don't want to mess with that if you don't need it and it doesn't sound like your problem is staying asleep, it's wanting to eat when you wake up. so try to find a way to break into your mind and be fully conscious of why you want to eat and all that. good luck.
