Reply:Hi guy,

Thanks for replying to my post. It helps to know that I can come here and talk and get advice! I am so tired and so fat, that I can hardly breathe. I cannot wait til next week, when the Christmas rush will be over. Then I can rest, which will hopefully enable me to walk. Then in January sometime, our Y opens and I will try it out. I just need somekind of boost. I do know that exercise is supposed to be good for arthritis. And anxiety, too!

Thanks again,

Wannabe

Reply:HI T,

Losing weight should definitely help with the arthritic problems and exercise is a good stress buster too so you may find that your anxiety will lessen which will probably help with any GI problems you may have. A lighter weight could lead to a reduction in steroid meds for RA so that maybe an extra bonus too. You may want to try yoga for anxiety relief too since breathing is a big part of yoga and anxiety tends to lead to hyperventilating. Water exercise and walking are really great ideas for you to use as your exercise staples. Ellipticals are good gym machines since they provide a good weight bearing exercise but are easy on the joints.

As for your diet focus on eating healthy and cutting back your calories a little which may mean smaller portions or lower fat substitutes for your favorite high fat treats. Good Luck and I look forward to hearing about your progress.
