How to lose inches? [winsor pilates] [outer thighs]

What is the best way to lose inches? I want to 4 or 5 inches of losing my waist and a 3 of my innerand . I use for about a week now . is the best way to lose inches around my waist and thighs? There is an opinion that one of you can give me? Ive also cut back my calories I tried to stay around 1200, but I think I did that today, as 200 or 300 but I did not eat as much as I have already . and I want to lose 2 pounds a week (wish I could lose 5 per week and still healthy enough to have it forever) and I have 35-40 pounds .

thank you for any advice you can give me on how those extra pounds and inches to lose


Reply:i had a friend in high school who was able to lose a ton of wieght and buil muscle over the summer. it was called the richard simmons sweatin to the oldies… yup, he did it every day and went from humpty dumpty to wow! and the weight has stayed off for 15 or so years now. so dear i'm afraid it is exercise… pilates is great, it gives you a ton of energy and after a few weeks you'll be much more flexible. but throw in some aerobics too.

Reply:you need to be doing cardio as well as the pilates. The cardio will help you lose fat and inches and the pilates will help you tone your muscles and maybe help you lose a couple inches if you're doing it along with cardio.

But if you're doing cardio and toning exercise there is no way you should be eating only 1200 calories.


Reply:WOW my body fat percentage is 32%!!!! and it said that the recomended bf % should be 22… how do i lower this??? this is crazy!! do i just run to lower it or what?? please any advise would be so usefull!!

Head back to the other thread, Tallgirl – you've got the basics there for a plan to shed body fat.

Keep in mind that online BF% measurements are not all that reliable. At best you'll find a 2-4% margin of error, at worst it's higher than that.

Reply:well if you are looking for an instant fix I cannot help you there, but if you stop dieting getting off the cycle (famine/feast) and do alot of walking especially up hills and wearing weights, if you can wear them on your waist is better than arms, only because wearing on the waist makes the weight easier to carry, then you will build up muscles in the stomach area, more muscles means more fat burning, even when not exercising, weights makes the muscle work harder and thus build up faster but only if you are eating enough and out of conservation mode.

just the act of moving the legs back and forth carrying your weights and then some, and going up hills uses the lower stomach muscles and the whole torso gets a work out simply because you the muscle action and the act of staying on your feet upright, works the muscles, you can life weights if you want but be very careful to not overdo it to injury,

it is better to lift two pounds with your arm doing repetitions 10 times then to lift 10 pounds two repetitions. this to avoid injury to the joints and tendons in your arms.

but that will only work if you are eating enough and the body is willing to release muscle building hormones (human growth hormones) in response to exercise.

I really recommend the book bodyfueling by robyn landis, she really touches on building muscles and fueling your muscles to build them up without tearing them down by eating improperly.

she really explains the biology of the body when it comes to building muscles, increasing metabolism and being able to eat enough, and so on. read it I got if from teh library.

Reply:yeah but you havnt told me what i CAN do to get rid of it all u tell me is that i shouldnt diet and exercise and told me that if i lose muscle instead of fat my stomack will still be pudgy… ok i get that just what do i do?? what kind of exercises will give me the results i want.. dont you think that 6and a half months is long enough to flatten my stomach??

please just give me ideas on what to do.. is pilates enough to give me the results i want or should i be doing more??? and if so then what??


Reply:see then you will always have a problem with your stomach if you want quick results (we all want quick the trouble is it not possible or permenant depending on what we want quickly)

if you lose fat and keep the muscles you will have a flat stomach without really working out much, but if you lose muscle then you will lose muscles in the stomach and always have a pudgy stomach.

Reply:ok… but what kind of stuff should i be doing for exercise to get a flat stomach and slim thighs?? is pilates enough or what?? i have done pilates 8 times so far and nothing has changed at all with my body… it will probably take 100 times before i even see a differance… i am just so impatient.. i want a flat tummy and slim thighs and stuff before my 16th b-day in march… can any one help me out with what i can do to lose these extra inches and pounds… since you say dont diet then what can i possibly do for exercise that will make my tummy fat go away??

Reply:check out the threads needing to lose 100 pounds and others dealing with weight loss specifically that I have posted, please just exercise and do not diet, 1200 caloires is a famine, in fact 1800 or even 2000 caloires is a famine depending on one's bodies needs, your weight loss is famine loss if you are losing 2 pounds a week, And mostly muscle is what you are losing.

you need to eat enough to cause your body to want to get rid of the fat and since you are reducing caloires your body is probably not releasing human growth hormones and thyroid stimulating hormones in response to exercise (when in conservation mode it would be defeating to survival to release these hormones) which is needed for fat burning, muscle buildiing and increased metablism to burn fat more efficiently.

RR I don't want to sound depressing or anything these are just facts I learned through research, not something I made up or figured out on my own.
