I dont 'seem to be losing weight [lifting weights] [pot belly]
I started going to a gym about 6 weeks ago. I go five nights a week and walking on the treadmill every night at a fast walk 30 minutes every night. Im not noticing a real weight loss. In fact, I weigh more than I did when I started. I also have heavy weight lifting. Im 62 “and I am weighing 228 lbs. I have a bit of a pot belly and I want it off, but I did not notice anything. I do not eat junk food and try to stick with a healthy food intake. How long til I start to notice things visible? Is it simply a case of do not notice because I see it every day?
Reply:At the risk of sounding repetative, I'm going to say that if the scale doesn't read lower, it doesn't mean you aren't making progress. If you exercise, you are gaining muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat.
To get more accurate reports on your progress, take measurements around your waiste, belly, legs, and arms.
You'll probably gain weight if you are lifting. For weightloss you need to take in less calories than you burn.
