My exercise regime – help (PART 1) [exercise regime] [muscle mass]
Reply:Hi, A stone is the UK measure for weight. I am not exactly sure how many lbs in a stone, but I think it is about 14 lbs to a stone ( i'm from Aus, and we measure in kilograms).
Hope this helps a little. Have a great day.

Overall, your plan looks good to me. I need to lose 48 pounds, and I've lost 12 in eight weeks doing your plan.
You mention snacking and trying to eat only three balanced meals a day. IMO, you do need a snack in between meals. For example, I didn't get an afternoon snack yesterday (usually an apple or low-fat yogurt), and I really felt off by dinner and ate way too much at dinner. Just something to think about down the road if you're seeing stars from not eating anything between lunch and dinner. Make it a healthy one, tho!
I'll pass on to you what my trainer — who's not a kid at a gym. She's someone I've known for years and completely respect — suggested (our plans are almost identical).
Walk briskly, uphill, four mornings a week for 30 to 45 minutes. You should be out of breath when you're done. If the walking becomes too easy and you're not out of breath, incorporate one minute of a light jog for every two minutes of walk. You may only be able to 25 or 30 minutes of this at first, but that's normal if you're not used to running/jogging.
Two of those afternoons, do a full body workout with plenty of stretching before, during and after. One of the leftover afternoons, concentrate solely on legs and butt. The other leftover afternoon, concentrate solely on arms and upper body. Evidently, abs will be worked with both butt exercises and upper exercises, if done right.
The afternoon workouts should take no more than 30 minutes. The schedule she has me on is Mon, Weds, Thurs & Saturday. For the full body workout, I bought an aerobics video that works everything and has many stretching exercises during the video. I do this one on a body ball…which feels great, BTW. I think this is one of the best pieces of equipment to hit the exercise/fitness market. I can finally do crunches without having a stiff neck the next day!
Good luck & please keep us posted on your progress!

P.S. I've seen this all over the boards. What is a stone?
