negative calorie? really? [negative calorie foods] [watermelon]
Ok so I read about these foods and they supposedly burn more calories to digest than the food actually contains. For celery or something makes sense, but its a bit difficult that some fruits like mango, strawberry, watermelon, apples and many other fruits are negative calories. I mean, theyre so high in calories you burn it all off by what could easily digestible? Is this all fake? I mean, if I could eat tomatoes and apples, strawberries, mango just all fruit all day long and much of it as all in all 4000 calories, Id really be able to burn calories by 5000 to digest? Or is it in amounts as if I eat half grapefruit calories would be negative, but if I ate 10 grapefruits positively because it is too much of it be? Ah, just confused. Thanks for all your help and explanations

Negative Calorie Weight Loss Solution.
Reply:i find it hard to believe apples are as well. celery yeah sure it's understandable. but so you're saying apples really are as well? maybe what they mean by negative calorie foods is they contain like 100 cal but by digestion you burn off more than on other foods so there will be 80 cal left. so i should take an apple to school every day then? that'd be gettin in negative calories?

The 100 Calorie Diet – Wow!
Reply:I actually read an article recently that said celery AND apples are the 2 true negative calorie foods. I also think the apple part seems a bit off. Maybe because of high fiber content? Maybe the skin is harder to digest?
Anyway, I love eating apples because they keep me fuller longer.
Cholesterol Foods E-Report
Reply:Where is here? Where did you get your example? I assure you that you do not burn 100 calories eating an apple. Any foods that may be negative calorie foods do not burn at a 5 to 4 ratio, either. Sorry, but if it seems too good to be true, it is. Lots of completely bunk diets have been created off the idea of negative calorie foods. Do you think that if they actually worked, any of us would be on these boards?

Alkaline Diet Recipes – The 33 Best Recipes with Pictures & Calories
Reply:The only true negative calorie food is celery. It is composed of water and non-digestible fibers. You basically take in and retain no calories from the food yet your body expends calories in chewing and digesting them. In reality, though, you will only lose a couple of calories by eating celery. It is not reasonable to base a diet on eating only "negative calorie foods" and hope to lose weight. Along with not getting any calories, your body gets no nutrients from these foods, so subsisting on them alone is a very very bad idea. But it makes celery a great snack, as long as you don't coat it in mounds of peanut butter or cream cheese. The other foods you mentioned (apples, strawberries, etc.) all have real calories that you will take in and keep no matter how long you chew them.
