Of Note: diet drinks [diet sodas] [diet soda]
Im sorry to say I have some bad news about diet sodas we drink. Each of them including Coke Zero, C2 and they all seem to imply that 10 or 15 pounds to your waistline. In fact all fake sugars can keep the weight, has proved to help with dieting. : Eek:
Reply:Then if you have a lot of them or have them often you may get into trouble…..
Of course. As has been pointed out, too much of anything is too much. But if I'm going to blow the calories on something, I want it to be something I LIKE. I hate artificial sweetners of any sort.
Reply:Yep, its Not the Diet Soda that makes you gain weight, "It's What You Choose To Put In Your Mouth "
Reply:All this talk about your body "thinking" it's eating a piece of chocolate cake and therefore you gain weight from it is ridiculous. It's all about what composes what you are eating.
It has to do with the substition factor. Sometimes the body can't stop craving the sweet nectar that comes from regular soda. So for some people, switching to diet soda actually makes them crave sweets more than they used too because they aren't getting the sugar they used to get from the regular soda. Therefore they can possibly eat more sweets and gain more weight.
So to recap: It's not the diet soda that makes you gain weight.
It's the sweets.
Everything in moderation….easier said than done.

Reply:Here's my conclusion, just don't OVERDOSE on this stuff. I think splenda is the best one out yet. Personally, for a nice treat, I just drink a regular soda(about once a week.) You'll get used to water over time. BUt, if you really have to drink the diet stuff, just don't drink tons of it. :nono:
Reply:I get so confused whenever new studies come out.
Too much of anything, even "diet" foods and drinks, will sabotage your weight loss. Personally, if I'm going to go for sugary things, I want the real deal.

Reply:Today I tried the new Diet Coke with Splenda…. what an improved taste !!!!!
Reply:I never knew my Perrier was poison……..
Reply:well if you can get me the facts from your friend I will review them. In the meantime, I will enjoy my water.
Reply:I read that it is being forced to change the claim that it is made from sugar when it is not. It is an artificial sweetner like all the rest. In my college argument writing class a student did their paper on the poison of carbonated water. one of the claims was that it is not regulated by the fda.
Reply:poison is a bit dramatic, lol I see nothing wrong with splenda, I love that no aftertaste in the diet colas. I usually drink straight water, but the carbonation every once in a while feels like a treat
Reply:splenda is not all its cracked up to be either. carbonated water is poison.
Reply:Just saw it on TV, – there is now Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda……. About time….
Reply:ive lost 50 pounds substiting coke for diet coke.. seems to work, for me anyway!
Reply:i think that is not true. when i went on a diet and lost a lost a lot of weight it was because i replaced fake sugar with regular. i even made my ice tea out of it. i drink anywhere between 2 to 4 quarts of liquid a day, and none of it is water. i hate water. i think the diet stuff does work.I agree with you…….And the best substitute is "Splenda"…….

Reply:That is exactly right when you drink that diet soda your body is thinking that your eating something as sweet as a piece of chocolate cake. The sugar substitutes are awful for you, they may not have calories, but they keep the weight on. You can hear about this by checking up with the people at CURVES. That is where they told me all about the news that diet sodas just dont cut it.
Reply:I don't think that diet coke is good for weight loss at all. I heard that even though diet sodas don't have any sugar in then except for sugar substitutes, your body still thinks that it is the real sugar and so you get an insulin spike and store calories as fat.:(
Hello guy
The body dosent "mis-interpret" ASPARTAME as real sugar…… and you cant "store calories as fat" – a calorie is a unit of measure of a certain amount of energy….and diet soda dosent give you an "insulin spike".
However, I think you are VERY right that Diet Soda is not really good for the Human Body…. It's the artificial sweetener and the preservatives……

Where are you getting your facts from? Statements like that are not much use to anyone unless we can evaluate your source and determine for ourselves if it is valid or not. :nono:
Reply:cool, cheers for that happyman
Reply:I didnt know there was a coke zero lol.. ive seen sprite zero.. i better check the supermarket again i think lol although i live in nz so maybe we dont have it here yet? wow guy, you cant tell the difference? man, i can! bigtime but hey, its the healthier option fizzy drink so tis all good
The zero coke seems to me to be the same as the diet coke…. (except for the label) – They both have only 1 calorie per litre……..

Diet Soda does not effect me that way….. I have no trouble on a diet drinking diet soda…….. It's not the best thing for your body but I cant see where it affects weight loss except that it has zero calories….. which is great on a diet.

Reply:i drink pepsi maxi. i like it better than diet coke
Reply:coke zero? i love coke zero.. what's wrong with it? lol
it tastes exactly the same as real coke, i think. but i haven't had a real coke in almost 2 years so.. i might not know. it tastes a lot better than diet coke though.
Reply:i used to drink ALOT of coke, the normal kind. wen i started my diet i new i had to give it up and as i diddnt like the taste of diet coke i was drinking water but it was long b4 i really felt the need for sumthink other than water so now i drink diet coke and although i dont really like it, i dont feel quite so deprived. dont drink any where near what i was drinking of the regular coke tho, so all good, i do plan eventually to drop the diet coke off
Reply:I usually don't drink soda. But it's really stupid because sometimes when I'm thirsty and then I just drink a 2 liter bottle of diet coke. But usually I never drink it.
Reply:I dont drink any soda, they are not heathly at all.
I use to love coke, but after not drinking it for 6 months i dont miss it at all. I never got on the diet soda, because i think it tastes like crap.
Reply:Major side effect of Diet Sodas: they cause weight loss if they replace sugary sodas!
If you eat a pint of Haagen Dasz with a diet soda, you won't lose the weight! :jester:
Reply:I don't allow myself more than a couple of diet sodas a week, but I've gotten to like the Diet Rite series, which has different flavors, and is made with Splenda, rather than NutraSweet. It doesn't give me the aftertaste.

Reply:I drink diet coke and it hasn't bothered me any. I'm not saying that diet sodas aren't bad, because I don't think ANY soda is good, diet or otherwise. But I'd rather drink diet than regular.
