physical activity and nutrition naps?! [weight loss plateau] [diet exercise]
Hey everyone, recently upped my workout
Ive in my attempt at my last 25 pounds (30 so far lost to waste and try to break through a weight loss plateau.) I started a 2.5 hour walk every day and I think I need a nap (30-45 minutes), shortly after take. Im also on a 1400 cal diet. I get a full 8 hours sleep per night.
Has anyone else experienced this (the need for NAP)? Im afraid that maybe my body is doing this as a means to burn the calories. On the other side of things, I find that after a nap I feel refreshed and have the energy to hit the weights for one hour. (Now Im not working, so I time to 3.5 hours per day in physical activity.)
What do you think? Is a 30 minutes nap is a bad thing in terms of keeping my metabolism up? Would it have any effect at all? Perhaps it might even up my metabolism, as Im assuming during the rest my body has recovered from the fatigue of exercise?
Any insight would be appreciated.
J
Reply:try about 12 minutes of aerobic exercise before the weight training, a shower and then 1 hour of walking and some stretching, a shower and fruits, and you will burn more fat and have more energy…
Reply:i am a big napper from way back. a nap is never a bad thing. much better to take a nap if you feel tired then try to perk yourself up by eating something….
Reply:Maybe you're exercising too hard? Otherweise, everybody feels a bit tired after exercising, but just keep on going and your body will recover. But make sure you're not overdoing your exercise though!
Reply:I feel like I need to take a nap almost every time I am done exercising. They say exercising gets you going, but it has always done the opposite for me. However, if I do not exercise I can tell later in the day – more sluggish, achy, etc. It's just at that moment after exercising that I feel burnt out & ready to go back to sleep. Pretty weird.
Reply:Nah, I don't think it will mess your metabolism up. But I dont know for sure.
But I dont think you need this nap. Your body has just been used to getting naps (because you may have been getting tired in the beginning) and has gotten used to these. I used to take naps too, and then I wouldn't be able to sleep good at night. So I stopped taking naps and make sure I sleep for 8 hours every night.
At first you will miss it and get tired, but you will get over it.
