Please help . screwed up metabolism? [calories per day] [lifting weights]

Please tell me that I was not doomed. Im 50 and 16 years old. About a year and half ago . I weighed around 120, and lost about 25 pounds by eating healthier and exercising more. The problem is that I was doing hardcore exercise (cardio classes, weight lifting) and only eating 1200-1400 . I did it for about a year and then this summer, I sort of stopped. I ate 1400 – 1800 calories and did little exercise and now I weigh 112ish. Im not terribly bold, but I would really like a few pounds to lose, and Im nervous that my metabolism slowed down permanently. I eat about 1400 calories a day and now recently started exercising with weights and I am going to the gym if I can do to cardio. Can you tell me how I can lose weight and if I have ruined my metabolism forever.

Reply:Also Realize that a slow Metabolism is not neccesarily a bad thing. At least not for maintaining weight. For Losing it sucks…but it is not a bad thing, it wont cause you harm. All it means is that your metabolism is more efficient, it means your body does not need as much fuel to do the work it needs to do. When we look at cars we would consider this a very good thing.

Reply:Doomed at 16??? Oh, my goodness, no!!! The body is very resilient and forgiving! Thank goodness for that because I didn't get myself turned about until after I was 40!!! And there are people who haven't gotten themselves turned around until later than that.

112 isn't sounding too bad. Can you be happy with that for now . . . just kind of hang tight and let your body settle for a couple of month . . . because on top of losing weight, as has already been said, you are still growing. I doubt your metabolism slowed down much . . . and even if it did, it ought to pick up again soon!

Reply:also…your metabolism is just fine…dont worry bout it…its not one of those things that you can just "Break" It will adjust to your body.

Reply:I second that, your still so young and your body still has a lot of growing to do. If you don't get the proper nutrition now you could cause some problems. If your really concerned about it, you should see your family doctor. He can recomend a proper diet for some one your age.

Reply:You are only 16. You are still growing and maturing, so you shouldn't restrict your calories. You'll only impede your development.
