Question about calorie intake [counting calories] [healthy lifestyle]

Hi! I am new to the boards and I have what might be a stupid question but hopefully someone can help. I would like to lose about 15 to 20 pounds and have started a on the 11th. Im eating healthy and walking / running on the treadmill for about 2 miles per night. The problem I have is, Im , but I do not think I get enough. Im eating somewhere 800-1000 and then reduced by what I burn on the treadmill. I feel like Im eating right. I dont feel like I am hungry, but Im afraid my body will go into starvation mode. What kinds of foods I can snack on that will add some calories, but not all the fat and sodium? The only thing I like to eat at night after dinner is light and Fit yogurt. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
Heather

Reply:Thank you for responding! I am using a calorie counter and it also takes all of your vitamins and minerals into account. I really like it alot but it keeps telling me to eat more calories. I just dont know what to eat that wont add a bunch of fat, carbs and sodium. I eat 3 meals a day with veggies or fruit for in between snacks, tons of water and a yogurt at night but if I get a craving for something sweet I will have a Smart One dessert or lowfat ice cream. When I started to log my food I really coudnt beleive that I wasnt eating enough calories because I am really not hungry at all. When I told my mom how many calories I consumed she thought I was trying to starve myself but when I told her what I ate she was surprised as well. I just want to lose 20 pounds the healthy and right way. I guess I will look up what veggies and fruit have the highest calories and snack more inbetween meals.

Thanks
Heather

The 100 Calorie Diet – Wow!
Reply:I had the same problem, only mine was with fat intake instead of calories. I had to consciously MAKE myself eat more, and it is hard. Are you using an onine calorie counter to gauge how many calories you're taking in? Sometimes when you list absolutely everything you put in your mouth, it ends up being more than you really think it is. Lif******* has a site where you can do a daily food diary that is really helpful. It calculates everything for you. I added things like peanut butter, nuts, and olive oil to my diet, but again that was for fat.

I do know that your body will go into starvation mode if it doesn't get what it needs. The site I mentioned will also tell you exactly how many calories you need for your body specifically to maintain current weight and lose weight. Good luck! :)

Well, I thought I would be able to put that site name in, but obviously not. It's a shame because it is a really helpful site

what are you eating that you only take in 800-1000 calories a day with out feeling hungry? i have always heard that anything under 1200 will put your body into conservation
