I would keep around 1800 for really fast weight loss and around 2100 for slightly slower losses.
I think your break-even point is likely around 2500-3000 calories/day…especially with those 4 mile walks (about 400 calories.)
I think 1800 calories will give you much more than a pound a week…don't go below this amount on any day.
I don't think 9 days of super low-cal did TOO much damage to your metabolism.

as a rule of thumb, find your daily basic caloric intake number, (maintance) thats eatting a certain amount of calories and your not loseing or gaining…thats your daily cloirie count for maintance.
well the rule of thumb I use for loseing…drop that number by 500…if your daily count is 2200 for daily mantance.. then to lose weight you would need to consume 1800 daily calories…be precise on the counting of calories.
exercise /walking 4 miles a day sure thats helps a lot..I walk about that much daily also on a treadmill.
