Question about soy milk? [flare ups] [meal replacement]
I do not like drinking milk, because the causes of acne flare-ups and stomach problems. For breakfast or lunch, I want my meal replaces a meal replacement shake. Is soy milk bad for a diet? When I drink soy milk, which is a good brand with less fat and calories? All responses will be greatly appreciated. : Confused:
Reply:I have to say that soy interferes with the thyroid. I am on thyroid replacement meds. I got into so much trouble eating soy products. Seems soy will interfere if you have a low functioning thyroid. Be careful with soy.
Reply:Thank you everyone for your replies, I have tried both SunSoy and Silk (vanilla). I like them both..I just didn't know if they carried a lot of fat or calories compared to milk..
Reply:There are those who maintain that eating soy in any form that is not fermented is not good. I don't think there are any firm studies, just anecdotal evidence. Do a search and you can come up with all kinds of info and decide for yourself.
Soy milk is not fermented – mostly what is available in the U.S. are tempeh, miso and natto.
Reply:there are a lot of different kinds– silk, sunsoy, vitasoy, soy dream, westsoy, etc. many of them come in multiple flavors incl. plain, vanilla, lite, low fat, etc. i was never a milk drinker, but i substitute soy where i used to use it in recipes and on cereal and things and it's great. i would never drink a glass of cows milk, but i occasionally like a glass of soymilk. rice milk (imo) is also great on cereal and tends to be very low fat and lower in calories, too.
Reply:I don't know which is litest but I like Sunsoy vanilla. I eat it on my cereal. The vanilla helps cover up the faint bitterness of the soy. It doesn't have much vanilla in it.
Reply:We really like the Westsoy Lite that has the added calcium and vitamins. It is lighter than other soy milks. I tried several soy milks and rice milk and I like the consistency of Westsoy and I think it has a mild taste and no aftertaste.

We but Silk Milk. He likes it. The rice milks is nasty.
