Question Weight Loss and Disease [healthy diet] [time at home]
Hello everyone. I have a question regarding weight loss if you are sick or recouperating of disease. I have a lot of great info from people on this forum, which coupled with my own life changes has enabled me to lose almost 45 pounds in the last 7 months, yes for me!
Anyway heres the situation. I had knee surgery on 11 / 5, was home for 12 days recouperating and now Im back to my first day of work. During my time at home, I continued my healthy eating, although I allow myself a treat or two here and there. How can I not eat myself from home and out of boredom is an achievement in itself belangrijke LOL.
I was pretty sure I had not the weight of the load that is gained from 1-1/2 week and was surprised to find I weighed myself this morning that if, for the first time in 12 days, I actually lost 3 pounds: bounce:.
Im complain unclear. But Im curious how this is possible, since I snail in total during this period. Does your body burn more calories when healing? I might eat less than I thought? Are you mostly just curious, but something I would be interested to find out about.
Thanks!
Laurie

Reply:I would have to assume that it's more likely loss of muscle mass that has accounted for the weight loss…along with the muscle atrophy around your knee comes a temporary loss of fluid as well.
Sorry! I don't think it was your body burning calories more efficiently.
Thanks Z, sound plausible but I the part about losing fluid around the knee doesn't sound right. Actually, it is quite the opposite. I had my first physical therapy last night and the therapist said I have a lot of fluid build-up in the area which takes time to dissipate. One of the key things we will be working on to begin with.
I did start wondering if perhaps eating a bit more than usual was a "kick start" for my metabolism. I'd plateaued for a couple of months.
Thanks again for helping, I really appreciate it!
