Shocking “Praise” [basketball game] [time in my life]
This is not a question . just an experience to share!
This is the first time in my life Im like “thin.” Most of my life I have something heavy and sometimes severe obesity (50 + lbs). As I read in another post recently, if you lost weight, many times it takes a while to see yourself as thin. So, when I got this comment, I was so shocked that I did not know how to respond. During a basketball game this week, my daughter was introduced at a special activity alone. My husband and I accompanied her on the court. As I was exiting, a friend said “you looked like a Barbie doll out there.” What ? Me? ha! (She did follow up with – “I mean that as a compliment.”) It reinforces my mind – but a Barbie doll? ha!

Reply:Lindan, I think we all feel that way at first. We just don't see it but boy when we do it makes ya feel wonderful. My daughter is still amazed by her skinny mom. That makes me feel better than anything in the world. Just wanted to post to say experiences like that are priceless.

Reply:Sometimes we can't see our weight loss it takes someone else to say something to make you say, "Hey I have lost weight!" I was at church and this lady came up to me a said. "Gosh, you are so skinny now, you lost so much weight" I'm thinking, I didn't REALLY think I was THAT fat before but again, I was in denial  But after her compliment (which I took it as) I started to see myself as how far I had come…I still want to lose a couple more pounds, but now I am not as hard on myself because I know I've made progress…keep up your hard work
