Teen needs to lose weight [diet plans] [calories]
I am 16 years old and I need to lose 50 pounds. Is it healthy for me to eat less than 1500 calories per day? I have read that 1500 is the minimum I should eat, but most diets require less than that amount.
Best Answer: ive been drinking nothing but diet green tea and water for a week and already ive lost two pounds. thats just from cutting out soda and other drinks with lots of sugar in them!
skip snack foods. they make 100calorie packs of various snack foods now that taste just as good as the original, but much healthier.
mayo, cheese, salad dressings, they all have a ton of fat in them. try to cut down on them as much as you possibly can

I think 1500 calories is reasonable. I don't think anyone needs any "plans" myself. Just count calories, eat healthy but allow yourself some "treats" so you don't burn out, and get at least 5 days of exercise per week. I'm sure you'll start to lose weight. As for less than 1500, I'd ask your doctor. I'm not sure what the recommendation is for a 16-year-old. I'm "old" (31) and I'm *simply* eating 1400 calories per day and working out daily, and I've lost 10 pounds in the past 3 weeks.
