yes that I understand, but when you keep on going and eatting the basics and exercising more ''longer'' for me and still not lose an ounce/ somethings wrong with this picture?

Reply:I am with you Chevy! The diet and exercise program I am on allowed me to lose 40 odd pounds in the first 7 months but then it suddenly wasn't enough? Doesn't make sense to me. I know I am not at what the "experts" would claim to be my ideal weight. So why did I stop losing pounds?

by exerciseing or doing pretty heavy activety, are they a chart for messuring calories burned?

on my treadmill if I walk about 2 miles or so on a 3mph walk for bout 35 minutes it says I burn up about 155 calories…but for some reason I just don't believe that? now that I'm in a ?….before I was loseing bout 2lbs a week and that was exciting, but now I'm still doing bout the same thing eating/ exercising like I was and I'm not loseing? but I'm supposably burning calories?

I agree, it doesn't sound like you're eating enough. Someone will be able to explain the science better than I can, but keep doing what you're doing with one addition: count your calories for a week. See how many calories you're actually consuming eating exactly as you have been, and how many calories you've been burning doing what you have been doing. I bet you'll be surprised how low it is. You go too low in calories, and your body wants to hang onto all the food it can get, like a survival instinct.

There is somethig really awful about weight set points for some people.

I am 6'2" and am locked into the 201-206 dance for the last year. I subvert my diet every time I get to 201…makes me guess if I REALLY want 190.

How many calories do you eat guy, I am about 2400 calories/day with 5 days at the gym (3 of them GOOD :D )

AB Loungers are less good than situps and crunches.

A fact of all diets: as we lose weight, we need to est less and less to continue losing. I cannot bear, nor do I really NEED, to do a 2000 calorie diet to get my weight into the 190's…but I'd kinda LIKE it…I'm torn!


High Blood Pressure Exercise Program
Reply:Actually I have a certain regime I do on my treadmill. I usually walk one mile @4mph, walk/run for the second mile and then walk/run with the treadmill elevated for the third mile. It is a rather narrow treadmill so I have to hold on to the front handles just to steady myself. As far as eating less calories, this is my usual daily diet: At 10:00AM I eat two cups of dry rice crispies. At lunch I have a can of soup, generally Progresso or Campbell's Select. Then after I do my treadmill, I eat a large salad of cabbage, carrots, and jalepenos with a fair amount of dressing. I snack in the evening on pretzels, sunflowers seeds in the shell, and peanuts in the shell but not too many of any of these. On weekends I skip the cereal and soup and treat myself to a steak or chicken/ribs which I BBQ. I don't really think I can eat much less and not feel like I am starving myself. That is why I am so frustrated. this diet allowed me to lose those first 40 pounds or so but not I have just stopped.

as far as hitting that '''' we all experince that sooner or later,most of us anyway… you might try to cut out a few more calories and drink more good cold sparkling water, and if you use a treadmill get ya some wrists weights just a 1/1/2 pound on each wrist.and just walk at a 3.0 mph speed maybe for an hour or so or ever how long you can…if your treadmill don't have a little fan built in then get you one and turn it on you while you work out, I been doing this and it seems to be helping with my '' if I sweat I seem to start to lose… so maybe just increase your cardio workouts?

don't be worrying bout your size and clothes fitting the same you know you lost and thats what matters the most.
you maybe a big bone person to so take that into consideration.
Riding a bike would be good but it may not be the answer?
My Doc told me walking is the about the best form of exercise anyone can do treadmilling is a great work out, and I believe he's right because when I get on a ecliptical or stationanary bike my butt gets sore and I can't work out all that long….<I guess thats good if you can't walk ''artritis'' or something like that.
so in general I use a treadmill also.
