The dreaded beer belly [law enforcement career] [medium frame]

Hey everyone, I am a 20 year old student. Im 510 and about 190 pounds. About three years ago I was in the best shape of my life, weighing approximately 155-160 with a good muscle mass, due to house renovations I had to get rid of my excericise equipment and i cannot afford a gym membership, I slowly fell excercising and i gained fat. I am ready for a career in law enforcement, but the rent demands someone 510 “with a to no more than £ 175, I need this weight off, especially in my stomach where the most flab is but I do not know where to begin, I barely have enough space on my bedroom floor to creak.

Reply:I just don't know what to think about that. I have always thought i had a med. to large frame. "For a girl" I have broad shoulders/back, hips etc. I did the finger thing and my fingers overlap significantly. So I figured since I have long fingers that I would do the measurement, and it is still the same=small frame. I just don't know what to think about that. I am 5'8, my dad and brother are both 6'4 and we are all "big ppl" not fat, but what I considered big bone. But according to this I have a small frame and I don't think that is true by any means.

Who knows??

Discovering The Law of Attraction
Reply:is that right guy,
Where did you get this from? I wrap my middle finger and thumb around my wrist and theres about an inch in between..so thats makes me a large frame? I always thought I was ? funny tho I tried it with my left wrist and it almost meets bout 1/4 inch or closer…my right wrist is the inch..I never notice this difference before?…I don't think mt right wrist is swollen? maybe its cause I have more mussel on the right wrist being I'm right handed?..or my fingers are longer?

Well, I just read that method online. Of course there is a lot of crackpot info online, but I read this on several different websites. I'm sure it isn't 100% accurate or anything.
This is supposed to be the scientific method:

Measure the circumference of your wrist with a tape measure. Determine your frame size (based on your measurement) using the guidelines set below:

SMALL FRAME:

Women:
? Height is less 5' 2" and your wrist size is less than 5.5"
? Height is 5' 2" to 5' 5" and your wrist size is less than 6"
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size is less than 6.25"

Men:
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"

:

Women:
? Height is less 5' 2" and your wrist size is 5.5" to 5.75"
? Height is 5' 2" to 5' 5" and your wrist size is 6" to 6.25"
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size is 6.25" to 6.5"

Men:
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size is 6.5" to 7.5"

LARGE FRAME:

Women:
? Height is less 5' 2" and your wrist size is greater than 5.75"
? Height is 5' 2" to 5' 5" and your wrist size is greater than 6.25"
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size is greater than 6.5"

Men:
? Height is greater than 5' 5" and your wrist size is greater than 7.5"

Reply:Oh, I don't like that method at all. All it will measure is the discrepancy beteen wrist and hand sizes. After all, people with large frames usually have large hands so hand and wrist should go up in proportion. If they don't it really says nothing about frame size.

I like better the comparison of wrist circumference to HEIGHT…that would better show frame size…or distance between end tips of the shoulder blades and height.

I come out medium with the Natalie formula but have a very large frame (my shoulders are wider than anyone I know)…with very large hands!

Perhaps HAT size relative to height might be good? Or width of the pelvis…between the "points" on either end/height!

Reply:My left wrist doesn't allow my finger and thumb to go around, but my right rist does.. I think that's just normal. The two hands/wrists/finger/thumbs aren't always going to be the same. We build muscle differently, etc. But according to guy's formula, I am a medium build, which is true.

Reply:I read that you determine your frame size the following way:

If you can wrap your thumb and middle finger around your wrist and they overlap, you have a small frame

If the fingers just touch, you have a medium

If there is space, you have a large

Child Custody: Enforcing Your Child Custody Plan
Reply:I agree with guy in that you need to cut back on your calories…start eating a heavy regieme of fruits and veggies. Compliment this with at least 30 min of cardio 3-4 times a week. Sit-ups and Crunches are ways to define the ab muscles, but they dont do a heck of a whole lot to get rid of fat.

That is interesting about the weight requiments…I always wondered what the standards were for that.

Reply:God,

I'm curious…how do they define a "?"

I was curious about this too, the best i could come up with is im guessing your natural size, maybe like how broad shoulder or naturally muscular you are. Some people are very skinny and lanky, then theres your average which i assumed i fit into to, then naturally bigger framed people

Reply:God,

If they threw out all the cops on the force that were OVER 175#, the entire country would be defended by the one guy they called "Skinny Harry!" :D :D

stevo,
It all starts with calorie control…you must cut back on your food intake. Exercise is a nice plus but it's more productive weightwise to attack the INPUT (eating) rather than the OUTPUT (exercise)!

BOTH however is good but diet is absolutely necessary!

I'm curious…how do they define a "?"

Reply:Lay off the booze, do cardio (jogging, speed walking, tennis, swimming, basketball etc.) anything that works up a sweat. Also crunches are great, but spot treatment doesn't work. If you are doing a heavy regimen of cardio along with crunches you will lose the fat and gain muscle which is always good. I know when my cousin went into law enforcement she did 1 hour of cardio every day combined with 30 minutes of weights and crunches. It did the trick.

Reply:i barely even have enough room on my bedroom floor to do crunches.
Crunches won't get rid of your gut if that was what you were thinking.
