Thyroxine for extra weight – anyone done this? [thyroid problem] [thyroxine]
I am a 38 years old hypothyroid patient. When my condition was diagnosed, my doctor put me on thyroxine and I felt like I just won the lottery – all my extra weight would just melt away now I was with T4. Yeah, right!
Can I have a number of open and honest answers from anyone who has additional thyroxine (regardless if you have a thyroid problem)?
How much you take, for how long, and actually help you loose?
All answers appreciated, thanks.
The Thyroid Hormone Solution
Reply:When I was in high school I doubled up on my thyroid meds – levothyroxine. I will be honest – I lost the weight. However, the time came when my insurance company would only renew my prescription every 30 days so I had to stop.
However, I have since learned that what I did was very bad for me. Being overmedicated & hyperthyroid poses its own set of problems.
In my opinion – don't do it!
The Natural Thyroid Diet
Reply:I gained 35 pounds the year after my dosage was increased (by my doctor)!! But the dosage increase was required and fixed a lot of my other symptoms. I think the change to my hormones must have made me feel constantly hungry and hence the weight gain. So just adding more thyroid in the hope it's a quick weight loss fix may not have the desired result at all!
I have since lost the weight, but not by popping any kind of magic pill, just normal diet and exercise.
