Reply:lax: if you start eating healthy carbs and not going hog wild on any carb–you shouldn't gain all the weight back. You just can't go back to the way of eating that led you to being overweight. Eat small amounts (for me that's around 100-120 grams of carbs) and make sure they are complex!

Reply:I also agree that you should find something you can live with forever. The "losing weight" part is only the beginning of the journey. You have to move there permanently.
Dieting success isn't achieved by how much weight you lost on any given diet. It's achieved when, months and years later, you didn't gain it all back because you CHANGED what made you fat in the first place.
Good luck

Reply:I too agree! I did Atkins for almost a year (on and off) and I couldn't live without most of the foods as well. I found I stayed on for no more than 3 weeks and then would BINGE!!! anyways, through the help of this board, I just started my own eating plan and feel great. Still lowcarb/sugar but I eat fruit and whole grain cereal for breakie and sometimes a turkey on 12 grain bread for lunch. Much easier and I am still losing! Good Luck!

Reply:I second what GC said! Once I tried an eating plan that didn't allow any "finger food" — you had to be able to put something on a plate and be able to eat it with a fork or spoon. That meant — and it was very strict about this — no sandwiches. I LOVE sandwiches. I lost a bunch of weight on the plan, but couldn't keep living without sandwiches. Starting cheating (eating sandwiches) and gained back all the weight, plus more.
The moral? It's not worth losing weight short term, if you can't live with the method long term.
Best of luck!

Reply:You should definitely find a way of life you can live with… believe me, the weight WILL come back and it will bring some friends. I did atkins on and off for 2 years, and in the end, I was fatter than ever! It is just way too restrictive… any plan that tells you to avoid things such as fruit, many veggies and milk… just something wrong with that! LOL! I think you should find something you can live with… I don't follow anyone's plan but my own… I took everything I learned over the years and found a way of eating that I can live with… if after only 5 days you realize you cannot live like this, I would suggest finding something that you can… Atkins states very clearly that if you go off his plan, you WILL gain the weight back… and believe me, it comes back quick! Good luck in whatever you choose to do
