What is a good training for a child? [recess] [workout]

My son is 10. He is not overweight or even fat but he has a gut! What can I do? I would not want his self-esteem to get bad. Should he run, run? How many minutes. He likes to work with me and we walk and walk the path behind our house. He is a kind of idle . Nintendo has one plays a LOT. But he was cut and played with children . running. But still his stomach. Now that the school that I am afraid he will get thicker.

Reply:Yeah. Don't make him exercise. Make him play sports. Badminton, swimming, soccer, martial arts. That kind of stuff.

Reply:Are you sure he needs to exercise? Exercise for exercise's sake seems harsh on a little kid…seems like it might give him a complex about being fat or something.

I'd just encourage outdoor activity and make sure he eats right–healthy food, no junk food, and no overeating. This reminds me of my nephew, who is also 10 and fits your son's description. I think my nephew's only problem is that when he was young, his mother shoved his face full of food to get him to be quiet, so now he eats too often of too much junk. No way am I saying you did that, but if he isn't eating as good as he could be, it might be easier to just change that rather than try exercise.

If it's at all possible, you might want to try to encourage play with other children rather than a retreat into video games. I love video games and I grew up playing them, and for that reason I know that they can be addictive to the point that children never learn to properly socialize or at the very least, they never pick up healthier outside activities.
