Reply:A nutritionist once told me that you crave sweets because you didnt get enough protein. Eat your biggest meal in th emorning and then 5 smaller ones the rest of the day. It is hard but the important thing I guess is to not beat yourself up when you eat junk food and to not label it "good" or "bad"
Stop thinking of it as a diet and think of it as just the way you do things. Your body will adjust and you can treat yourself to sweets, everything inmoderation, right?

Reply:Is their anyway that when you are eating those 6 meals a day… make yourself not crave all the junk we are supposed to stay away from. I'm trying to eat as healthy as possible, but it's killing me, I have been really trying for two full days, I feel like I am starving, and I really just want to eat till I feel full or satisfied. But for me to feel satisfied, I feel like I need to eat the junk.
This eating thing is a really bad, bad addiction!! Just need some advise on how you all control the crave for food, and does it ever really go away? If not I might just decide I want to be fat and happy. :bouncing:

Reply:Kisha is right about loving youirself, and using food to comfort and make you feel better. We all do it- our society is one great big disordered eating community. We binge from Halloween to Easter, and then starve from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Its ridiculous.
The only thing that can help someone maintain his or her body's natural, lean healthy weight, is to stop thinking abou tit as a "diet". That sets you up for guilt if you "indulge."
We need to listen to our bodies own signals. Find out when we are actually hungry, and actually full. We have to stop leeting supermodels and tv ads and McDonalds and KFC sway us into thinking that we are hungry or fat or wahtever.
You may want to try meditating – it gets you more in tune with your body and can help you become more relxed. We know that we eat when we are stressed, right?
Good luck. Hope this helps.

Reply:Oh sweetheart, that makes me sad to hear that your husband chooses to be cruel rather than supportive in your time of need :nono:
The first thing I would say that needs to happen is that you should learn to value and love yourself as a human being. As a human being you are worthy of much more respect than you are receiving especially from someone who had pledged to be your partner in life.
I know it is hard to have good self-esteem when you are overweight because everything in American society tells you that should be ashamed of yourself for being fat but the fact of the matter is they (society) is wrong for fostering such an attitude. There is nothing to be ashamed of and often weight gain is a sign of more serious problem. In your case, you don't feel valued or loved and since a cupcake never called you a dirty name or made fun of you, you turn to food to find comfort and to try to fill a void made by a lack of love. I know a little bit about this. I've always repressed my emotions, having been the victim of child abuse/molestation. Whenever someone hurt me, I would laugh it off and stuff a twinky in my mouth to keep from 1- replying, 2-feeling. I gained well over a hundred pounds before realizing that I'm only compounding the damage done to me by others. I am worthy of better than this. I have good days and bad days but it's all about recovery.
You have to learn to love yourself first and then because you love yourself work to be healthier in spirit, mind and body. You could start by standing up for yourself to your husband and letting him know that you need his support rather than his ridicule. You could also do a daily affirmation such as 'I am a beautiful, wonderful woman worthy of love and respect.' Stand in the mirror adn say it ten times everyday. It'll feel funny at first but the crazy thing is eventually you'll believe it because it's true.
This probably isn't what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps anyway. I don't have the miracle answer to losing weight because everyone's body is different and responds to different things. Whenever I cut sugar from my diet, I lose weight. I do know, however, that lasting weight loss, however you acheive it, starts by having a healthy attitude about it and yourself.
Good luck and I hope you feel better!

Reply:The last two posts have made me realize that this diet thing is for the birds. Searching for 10 years to lose 15-20 pounds, and all I can seem to do is take a bunch of pills waisting my hard earned money in the process, and getting even fatter. One post says no, diet pills don't work, the other says they do. I'm not mad at anyone…just upset, because I am so confused! I don't know what to do.
Take this pill, that pill, eat this, don't eat that, exercise before breakfast, two hours after, maybe you should before you go to bed, it burns calories while you sleep, don't eat after this or that time, drink lot's of water, diet soda is alright, no…it's not alright……..ect…….I could go on. Does anyone know what I should do, what I should not do, and lose 15-20 pounds? I have never been fat before, and I really do not know what to do. My husband makes fun of me and my five year old son likes to lay on my stomach because he says I'm fluffy. It really hurts. No one compliments me anymore the way they use to, and it seems as though all my efforts are not good enouph. Yes I do turn to food for comfort. I have nothing else, I feel like I can't controle the food that goes into my mouth. Like if I don't eat four large pieces of cake before anyone gets home, that I will be missing part of my life. I guess Im not good at explaining myself, but I hope you can understand, and please help me, I don't have the support of anyone here, and I don't have the money to join a gym, or buy fancy low fat, low calorie foods. Thanks for reading, and I hope understanding.

Reply:Interesting. I used the non-ephedra version and found it worked pretty well. All it really does is make you feel full right before you eat so that you eat smaller portions. A few things to keep in mind. Make sure that no matter how hungry you are when you take the pill to only make yourself a small portion. It's not good to be full with a ton of food still on your plate.
I pretty much stopped taking it though because I didn't like the feeling it gave me. It just seemed weird to be starving one second then hardly eat and be full. I may try it again, not sure.

Reply:You gotta make a meal plan…decide exactly what your six small meals are going to be. If you eat high quality REAL food and not calorie-dense processed food, you'll have a lot of food to eat. Try checking out the Eating for Life style of eating, do a search on it, it will come right up. They have lots of recipes and guidelines for the kinds of and amounts of food to eat for your several small meals.

Reply:The whole problem with not eating is your hair will eventually start falling out and loads of other nasty things also happen to your body! It's not a good idea ! Neither is binging and purging …people that do that actually have a disease !And as for the diet pills……….as soon as you go off them (any you have to eventually because you build up a resistance and have to increase your daily dosage more and more ..and the fluttery feeling gets worst too ) so when you go off them your appitite comes back in full force and you gain it all back and then some more ………yeah it sucks but Eat smart and excercise reguarly and it'll be gone in time (and if that doesn't work try weight watchers it does work great).Good luck!
Reply:I know that starving isn't good for my body, and your body gains it back twice as fast when you start eating again…But my sister has been eating one big meal a day, anything and any amout she wants until she is totally stuffed to the point of vomiting, and she is skinny, with two young kids. Seems like if anyone would gain weight, she would defenatly!
Well anyway, the longer I go without eating, the less hungry I feel. Then when I do finally eat, only because I know it's the healthy thing to do, I feel like crap! I don't get it. I get bogged down, and feel like maybe I need a nap…that kind of yucky.
Can I also ask how you can stop at 6 SMALL meals a day? When you start eating and have a crave for something don't you end up eating 6 or more large meals? That's me! It's almost like I have no control over myself. I wish I could find something that would make me not crave, and maybe even lose my appetite even, just so I could eat small healthy choice foods, and keep them small.
Reply:Have any of you tried Phenterprin or Phentramin, I think they are super I tried the Trim Spa, but it did make me jittery, but mostly like a foggie feeling, must be my system,I prefer the natural type weight loss products also, that and my favorite green tea, lots and lots of pottie breaks lol….but well worth the results lol. :bouncing:

Reply:It doesn't make me jittery or make my heart race. I KNOW it isn't the drinking water that fills me up, because I drink at LEAST 64 oz. but usually closer to 1 gallon every day, and have for a long time before taking TrimSpa. And I don't feel…full. I just…don't think about food for a while.
Whatever you do, don't go without food. First of all, going without food is totally setting yourself up for a rebound binge. Second, going without food puts your body in starvation mode and your metabolism drops, so when you start eating again, you will gain weight more easily because your body is hanging on to every calorie in case you decided to starve it again.
Look around on the net for a list of "snuff" foods. They are really good for you and supposedly negative calorie foods, meaning you burn more calories eating and digesting them than are in the foods, but at the same time they are healthful foods. Keeps lots of them around so you can munch…and try eating 6 small meals each day.
Reply:does it make you jittery or make your heart race? Do you think it might be possible that if you have to take so many pills throughout the day, that it is because you have to take it with water and the water is just filling you up? I don't know…I just really want to be sure. I have also tried a lot of diet pills with all kinds of claims, none worked, except the racing heart, and jitters.
I have become so desperate at this point. I think it would be easier if I would just go without food for a while, the hunger goes away. After all how many people that never eat are fat? I tried the binge and purge thing, but all I could make myself do is the bingeing. Not a puker.
Do you all exercise at least three times a week? What works for you, and how often do you work out?
thanks for all your help

Reply:I take 2 after breakfast, one before lunch and one before dinner… The only one I find really useful is the one before dinner because i don't overeat .
I find that it doesn't give me extra energy but it does decrease my appetite, but only for a little while. After about 2 hours or so, I'm hungry again, so I am not sure if it actually works or not. I suppose it's wise to mention that I typically eat 6 small meals a day, so my body is used to eating every 3 hours or so.
Maybe I'm not taking it correctly, but the bottle doesn't say if it should be taken before or after meals and I'm kindof iffy about taking it on an empty stomach in the morning.
Hope this helps!
Reply:I use it when I'm PMSing to control cravings, it works fine. It doesn't kill my appetite completely, which is a good thing, I think. But start off taking one to see how you react…the first time I took it, I had a hard time sleeping that night, but I built up a tolerance and now take two, though some people take more. I take mine in the early afternoon because I almost never overeat early in the day and it has helped enough that I will keep using it and buy more when I run out. I can't say that about any other diet supplement I've used before, and I've tried about a dozen.
