Which is better for your metabolism and lose weight? [losing weight] [metabolism]
Excercising 20 minutes in the morning before breakfast and 20 minutes somewhere in the afternoon for dinner? or excercising 40 minutes all together for breakfast?
Reply:Definitley exercise in the morning. Not only does it speed up your metabolism for the rest of the day, but you have more energy and ya dont feel so lazy AND you can just get it over with and not have to worry about going to the gym all day
Reply:It is very important to eat a small snack before exercising. Try a banana or an apple. The purpose of exercise is to raise your metabolism, eating also does that. So if you exercise on an empty stomach, your body is not going to call on stored fat to give you energy to exercise, but it will call on stored muscle instead.
Reply:Whatever is Easiest for you to do! Bottom line…There is never a bad time to execise. but Execising in the Morning will usually be better as it will raise you metabolism for a few hours after you execise as well.
It is important that you should eat something first before you execise. It is not good to execise on an empty stomach and you need to get some Energy.
an Important factor is also how you feel. Ofton many people in the morning feel sluggish and not full of energy first thing in the morning….thus when they exercise they may not get the most out of the work out as if they might if they exercise in the afternoon when they are in a good mood and full of energy.
Every body is different so what might be best for someone else may not be best for you. Other factors to consider is The Intensity of the Workout.
and the amount of sleep you are Getting. If you need to wake up 20 minutes earlier to to do the extra exercise then are you going to bed 20 minutes earlier? Remember a good nights sleep is just as important to your health and to having the energy to exercise.
About 8 years ago I lost over 30lbs. I did this by Going to the Gym 5 times a week and eating well. Most of the time I went to the Gym was at 9-10 PM.
You may Want to Concentrate More on the Actual Execise you are doing rather then worrying about the time of day that you do it.
Reply:I totally agree, Mefit. There are many hard workout types of exercises I can't do before breakfast. Same thing happens to me, weak, sweaty, even a little dizzy sometimes. I have found the only thing that agrees with me early before breakfast is a really fast walk…nice way to start the day, too, all the birds chirping, squirrels waking up
I just noticed more weight loss than when I was doing the same brisk walk in the evenings, say, after dinner. Getting up so early to do this, tho, is work!!!

Reply:I agree with 40 in the morning before breakfast. A good piece of advice I got on this board regarding this: Drink a big glass of water before your exercise!
40 minutes in the morning before eating has just done wonders for me. I hope it does for you, too.
Something else that's helped is not just thinking, "Okay…40 minutes of exercise and I'm done for the day." Throughout the day, I try to incorporate little bits and pieces. Hand wash dishes you would normally put in the dishwasher. Park far, if it's safe and not raining, if you need to run errands. Take stairs instead of an elevator. If someone offers you a chair in a waiting room, stand. I use commercials during my evening TV time to get up and do something…anything, fold some clothes, brush my teeth, make sure doors are locked, wash a dish or two, get dogs water, let dogs out…you get the idea
You'd be surprised how much all the little things add up combined with a nice exercise session in the morning, and it's not like a "schedule".

Reply:40 mins in the morning would probably be best. As when you awaken, you haven't eaten in several hours therefore you have no food to burn off when you exercise, so if you exercise before breakfast you're going to be burning off fat. So yeah 40 mins in morning before breakfast would be good.
Reply:Well id want to keep it at 40 mins total everyday cause I started eating less but healthier food. Im asking is it better to split this up? 20 in the morning 20 in the afternoon? or do 40 mins in the morning at one shot?
Reply:40 mins before breakfast, best is if you add another 20 mins in the afternoon too though
