Why can not I eat everything, exercise and still lose weight? [metabolism] [18 years]
I do not understand Im 18 years old I feel like a normal metabolism and I exercise Every Morning. Do you think it is possible for me to eat something and I still want to lose weight?
Reply:You probably will lose a little weight if you exercise each day and did not increase your calories. It will be a slow weight loss, very slow. A lower fat moderate carb/moderate protein diet is a healthy way to go, and if you ate healthily, you'll have more energy for your workouts. :bouncing: FIgure out your daily caloric maintence and subtract calories from there. I'm sure you know one pound=3500 calories. What is your diet like and how much do you want to lose?
Reply:When i was 18 years old I was on the cheerleading squad, exercised roughly 14-20 hours a week and ate anything I want but still gained if I ate egregiously during the day. :nono:
Reply:Not every 18 year old has a metabolism fast enough to allow them to eat whatever they want. And even thin people can still get high cholesterol, which leads to heart disease, strokes, etc etc. No one can really eat whatever they want. Not just from a weight standpoint but from a health standpoint. Greasy french fries and fatty pizza and fried red meat and creamy ice cream in large quantities are not good for anyone. Why not develop healthy eating habits now? Believe me, when you get to be 30, you'll be so glad you did. How you eat now and how you have fueled your body all those years will show then. You can either have cellulite-y, hail damaged thighs, a tummy roll and fat deposits around your heart, or you can have a youthful, healthy body inside and out. Plus, when you hit your mid 30's, chances are your metablism will slow way down, and you will have to eat a healthy low fat low calorie diet to keep fit anyway, and it will be sooo much harder to do if you're not used to it by then.
Reply:Amberface526, I mean this in the nicest way…YOUR LIVING IN FANTASY LAND!! I hate to say it, but your youth doesn't license you to get away with eating whatever you want. guy is right if you take in more calories then you burn you will gain weight and it you take in the same amout you burn you will stay the same. I know probably some of your friends can eat what they want, but that's why we're all different. Some of us are blessed with wonderfully fast metabolisms and other people have metabolisms that are practically going backwards like myself
Reply:Sure, you can eat whatever you want. But if you take in more calories than you burn, you're still not going to lose anything.
